Description
A warm apricot-pink grandiflora with refined, high-centered form

Catalina is a beautifully bred grandiflora created by renowned hybridizer Dr. Keith Zary and introduced by Jackson & Perkins in 2008. With Color Magic in its parentage, this rose inherits exceptional color quality, refined form, and graceful movement in the garden. Catalina blooms steadily from late spring to mid fall, producing clusters of 3 to 5 soft apricot-pink flowers touched with a subtle tea-rose fragrance. Each 4-inch bloom bears 35 to 40 petals and finishes in glowing shades that shift from warm apricot to soft yellow, all set against a darker pink reverse that enhances depth and visual appeal. Held on sturdy 16- to 20-inch stems, the blossoms are ideal for cutting and dramatic against the shrub's glossy dark green foliage.

Reaching a mature size of about 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide, Catalina is well suited to beds, borders, and cutting gardens where its warm tones can harmonize with other perennials. Its elegant clusters pair beautifully with companions such as lavender, salvia, nepeta, and soft yellow or white blooms, each complementing the rose's color-shifting petals. With reliable blooming power and a balanced habit, this grandiflora offers both structural presence and long-season beauty, making it a standout choice for gardeners who love classic form with modern performance.

Catalina performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. Deadhead regularly to encourage repeat blooming, and prune in early spring by removing dead, old, or crossing canes. In warm climates, reduce remaining canes by about one-third, and in colder regions prune a bit more for winter preparedness. With thoughtful seasonal care, Catalina rewards gardeners with continuous clusters of warm-toned blooms and strong garden performance.
